Thank You So Much

There aren't enough words to express how much your comments meant to me after my last post.
Life is sorting itself out again and I promise I'll soon be bouncing back with jolly posts again.  I already have some nice things lined up.

Much love,
Carrad xxx

Greta - my Mum, my Best Friend 1925-2012
At 5.30 this morning Mum's beautiful spirit soared into the sunrise.

There are smiles through tears because she loved her family, we loved her and she knew this.  Her precious legacy lives on in us and we will keep her memory alive always.

Did you get wet too?

Did you know that an anagram of "Woolfest" is "Wet Fools"?   !!!

Yes, I'm still here!

I have been rubbish at blogging recently.  I admit it.  Sorry.
I have been busy with a lot of things, but mostly with my mum.  She has been failing for sometime and is now  in a nursing home.  It became clear that we could no longer look after her properly and it just had to be done for her own sake, she's been in so much pain.  The home is in a village not too far away, but far enough to be a good run out in the car, or a short train journey so it's not too easy to visit.  Sadly, when we visit, she hardly knows us and she looks so frail.  It's not my mum any more.  I don't know how long it may be before the visits come to an end.  It would be kinder if it was sooner rather than later, but no-one can tell.
Anyway, it's time to get my bottom into gear and hopefully a more interesting and jollier post will appear very soon.  Have a lovely weekend and a productive, crafty week. xxx

Flag or Jack???

Who really knows?  I've been looking through a variety of websites and not only are there so many variations on the use of the names for our national flag but it's still a bone of contention within our countries.  Some Scots feel peeved that the saltire is right at the back and some Welsh people wonder why they're not there at all (I think a dragon in the middle would be quite fun, but much harder to draw!).  Basically it's the Union Jack when in a maritime capacity and Union Flag on land ... but then there's some dispute over the origin of "Union".

Whatever, I'm sitting here drinking tea from my Union Flag mug, listening to the pouring rain (so British!) and  contemplating the fact that the family barbecue might have to be indoors this afternoon.  I must admit my favourite bit of the whole Diamond Jubilee thing is the lovely vintagey-ness of the 1950's recreation.  Tea dresses rule!

A Good Yarn is celebrating with another fabulous window display.

I should really have put my camera on the "through glass" setting but I rather like this photo below.  You can see my reflection, and behind me the Town Hall flying the flag.
 Gawd bless you, Ma'am!
Oops, a non-jubilee photo sneaked in - my latest knit in Adriafil Knitcol
The Girl Genius sporting Jubilee paintwork by Bibbitybob, prior to a visit to my work where we had a celebratory buffet.

Hope you all have a spectacular Jubilee long weekend, regardless of the weather! xxx
